Story of Friendship of Dalai Lama and a Member of Nazi Party Heinrich Harrer
Marco Polo was the first European who introduced Europe to Asia. His journey along the Silk Road between 1271 and 1295 proved a great source of information for the European and other nations about the Mongol Empire, Yuan Dynasty, Persia, India, and Japan. Indeed, Marco Polo was the pioneer in introducing Asian culture and dynasties to Europe. His accounts of the traveling were recorded and became the source of knowledge about various cultures across Asia.
This story is the story of a different journey, but it was also recorded in the form of a book by an Austrian national who traveled thousands of miles away from his country, narrowly escaped imprisonment as a prisoner of war, and reached a sacred city.
He becomes a friend and tutor of the most sacred personality in the whole country. He was a mountaineer by profession and in connection with an expedition, he was traveling to the South Asian region.
Later on, circumstances led him to reach Tibet where he befriended the Dalai Lama. He not only stayed in the forbidden city of Lhasa for seven years but also worked as a respectful official and tutor of the Dalai Lama in Tibet.
